A delegation of County officials walked the halls of Congress last week to deliver requests for Federal assistance on projects and issues of importance to Solano County. Supervisor John Vasquez, Supervisor Mike Reagan, County Administrator Michael Johnson and Assistant County Administrator Veronica Ferguson visited Solano County's congressional delegation, other members of Congress and representatives from America's Promise Alliance. Vasquez and Reagan serve on the Board of Supervisors Legislative Issues Committee.. The delegation carried a dozen requests for appropriations and legislation benefiting the county that the members of Congress could deliver on behalf of the county. The legislative-directed appropriations requests, commonly referred to as earmarks, range from funding to expand the Nut Tree Airport in Vacaville to conducting regional disaster preparedness exercises at the Solano County Fairgrounds.. The delegation carried a dozen requests for appropriations and legislation benefiting the county that the members of Congress could deliver on behalf of the county. The delegation also sought the congresswoman's help in expanding the Solano County Probation Department's ability to monitor and closely supervise high-risk offenders with GIS technology. Reagan emphasized how the program expands the resources to conduct intensive caseload supervision and periodic searches with local law enforcement agencies.
