FAIRFIELD - A delegation of Solano County officials spent last week in Washington, D.C., attempting to get federal funds for such things as Nut Tree Airport improvements and disaster preparedness exercises.

Supervisors John Vasquez and Mike Reagan, County Administrator Michael Johnson and Assistant County Administrator Veronica Ferguson made the trip. They met with the area's congressional representatives.

'We are optimistic that this trip will result in more federal dollars coming back to Solano County,' Johnson stated in a press release.

The group also worked on getting the U.S. Forest Service to follow through with a proposed land swap that would give the county ownership of Fouts Springs Youth Detention Facility in Colusa County. Solano County bought land nearby a decade ago for the swap, but the proposed deal stalled.
