County officials visit Congress to ask for funds

A delegation of Solano County officials visited Congress this week to deliver requests for federal assistance on projects and issues of importance to the county.. The delegation carried a dozen requests for appropriations and legislation to Solano, such as expanding the Nut Tree Airport in Vacaville, preparing for a flu epidemic and other disasters to and conducting regional disaster preparedness exercises at the Solano County Fairgrounds. During a visit with Rep. George Miller, D-Martinez, the delegation encouraged him to introduce legislation to compel the U.S. Forest Service to live up to its commitment to give a permanent home to the Fouts Springs Youth Detention Facility.
