Scottrade, a leading branch-supported online investment firm, opened a new branch office in Fairfield on Monday.

The office, situated in the Hillside Terrace Shopping Center, is the first of eight new branch offices Scottrade plans to open in California this year. Scottrade currently operates 41 other branch offices in the state.

The expansion into Fairfield means that "many of our customers will now have a more convenient local branch office," Scottrade branch manager Rod Williams said in a press release.

Scottrade does not offer investment advice, but brokers are available at branch offices to answer customers' questions about their accounts, provide customer service, or provide tutorials of Scottrade's online trading platforms.

"While most of our customers trade online, (they) appreciate the personal customer service they receive through their local branch offices," said Rodger Riney, Scottrade founder and CEO. "Our branch network is an important part of our mission to provide online investors with the best value in the industry."

The Fairfield branch, located at 3344 N. Texas Street, is open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and can be contacted at (707) 434-1980.
