Applications up at Sacramento State

California State University Sacramento has seen a 9 percent increase in applications for fall 2007, the outreach, admissions and records office said Wednesday.

More than 21,000 students have applied for enrollment this fall, compared to a little more than 19,000 for fall 2006 enrollment. First-time freshman applications totaled 15,531, a 9 percent increase over the 14,231 freshman applicants in 2006. The largest group of transfer students -- those applying for junior status -- increase 4 percent over 2006 to 3,759 applicants.

'One of our primary goals is to continue the gains we have made in enrolling a diverse group of students, Emiliano Diaz, director of outreach, admissions and records said in a news release.

Applicants will be notified in mid-April of their admissions status.
