Economic Summit Strategy: To Define Vision For Solano

Economic Summit Strategy: To Define Vision For Solano

FAIRFIELD - Business and government officials will meet today for a major economic summit.

The Solano Economic Development Corp. is hosting the all-day event at the Hilton Garden Inn, which will include representatives from all seven Solano County cities, county government, business leaders and transit officials.

"What we're trying to accomplish is to define some strategic activities that both public and private sectors can work together on to make a positive vision" for the county, EDC Vice President Sandy Person said.

The format of the event features talks from Assemblywoman Lois Wolk and former Business, Transportation and Housing Agency Director Sunny McPeak.

Solano EDC works with public agencies on marketing to encourage businesses to relocate to Solano County and local businesses to expand.

Although the cities and counties meet individually fairly regularly, it has been years since all of them met together, Person said.

Participants will break into small groups for part of the day and try to generate some shared interests between the organizations. Afterward, the entire group will reconvene and "have a discussion of what those groups came up with, what can we agree to collaborate on that will have a profound outcome for our economy," Person said.
