Sir Speedy Printing Garners Small Business Award

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE - Twenty-one years after starting in Fairfield, Mark Hostler's Sir Speedy Printing was honored Thursday as the city's small business of the year.

The award came at the annual Spirit of Solano luncheon at Travis Air Force Base, where representatives from all nine chambers of commerce in Solano County picked their top business.

Sir Speedy Printing has been a member of the Fairfield-Suisun Chamber of Commerce for nearly its entire time in the city, chamber chairwoman Darelyn Pazdel said.

Hostler kept his remarks brief after accepting the award.

"Two words, three times: Thank you, thank you, thank you," he said.

Chamber President Leslie Fay said the decision was made based on how long candidate businesses had been around, and how active they are in the chamber and the community.

"Sir Speedy has been very supportive of the chamber for many years by printing our newsletter and participating in many - most - events," she said.

Also handing out awards were chambers of commerce from Benicia, Dixon, Rio Vista, Vacaville and Vallejo. The county Black Chamber of Commerce, Filipino-American Chamber and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce also honored their businesses of the year.

Solano Economic Development Corp. President Michael Ammann called all the recipients people "who really moved this county and our communities forward" and said he expected "a banner year" in 2007 for local businesses.
