County school leader sworn in for second term

FAIRFIELD - Dee Alarcon, the Solano County superintendent of schools, was installed for her second term.

Alarcon was the first woman elected to the position since the county office of education was formed in 1850. She followed Dr. Wendall Kuykendall, who held the position for 17 years.

Alarcon spent more than 30 years working in the county as a teacher, principal and administrator before taking the job as county superintendent.
