Fairfield toasts giant bottle warehouse

Saint-Gobain Containers Inc. broke ground this week on a new 1.2 million-square-foot warehouse in Fairfield.
The Muncie, Ind., company sells glass bottles for food and drink. The Fairfield distribution center will supply the state of California, the company said Thursday. John Haack, a spokesman for Saint-Gobain, said the warehouse in Fairfield will help the company compete for customers in the wine industry.
Fairfield's vice mayor, Harry Price, said he was pleased that 'such an important employment center' was coming to his city.
Saint-Gobain, the second-largest glass bottle maker in the United States, is owned by France's Compagnie de Saint-Gobain, an international industrial group.
Indianapolis-based Lauth Property Group is the general contractor for the project. "
