Vaca planners endorse two infill projects

Two infill developments that would create 45 new homes in southeastern Vacaville moved forward Tuesday.

The Vacaville Planning Commission recommended approval of the two projects, dubbed the Sterling Chateau developments. The City Council soon will see the items on its agenda.
The project would turn two sites previously earmarked for schools into extensions of the surrounding residential neighborhoods.

Travis Unified School District has agreed to swap land with developer Meritage Homes, giving the district land to build a new middle school and elementary school off Vanden Road.
In return, the developer receives slightly more than 10 acres for the homes.
