Vacaville's OCR Solar & Roofing has announced that it has secured exclusive rights through 2008 to install BP Solar's "EnergyTile" solar modules on production homes in Northern and Central California.

An OCR spokeswoman said the company expects this year to install roughly $10 million of the EnergyTiles, which replace concrete roofing tiles and so don't protrude from the roofline. OCR installed $1.7 million of the tiles last year.

Each EnergyTile is 18 inches by 60 inches, or the size of five traditional concrete tiles, and generates 65 watts of power.

OCR is the largest residential roofing contractor in Northern California, installing roofs and solar panels for more than 100 home builders.

BP Solar, a subsidiary of petroleum and energy giant BP PLC, is one of the world's leading solar firms.
